movie: Cyborg Girl

Info from mysoju:

Cyborg Girl Also known as Cyborg She / 僕の彼女はサイボーグ/ Boku no Kanojo wa Cyborg / 我的女友是机器人 / My Girlfriend Is a Cyborg

 Film Date: November 2008
Cast: Ayase Haruka
Koide Keisuke
Kiritani Kenta

Synopsis:
One day, a beautiful cyborg girl appears in front of a dull university student. Even though the cyborg starts to like him, she can’t truly feel emotions, so the boy has no choice but to say goodbye to her inhuman power and ‘violence’. Missing her, he continues his lonely existence. Some time thereafter, a disastrous earthquake hits Tokyo, and the cyborg girl saves his life. In that moment, she starts to have feelings like a real human being.

Okay, as expected, synopsis isn't really the best way to go in deciding whether to watch a movie or not. As it turned out, the deciding factor on why I watched Cyborg She is the video above. I'm really at a loss for words with this movie. It was such an enjoyable, entertaining, amazing, uncomplicated film. And to think the concept is all about Cyborgs and time travel. I've always loved time travel stories ever since I read Dean Koontz novel, Lightning ( the book deserves it's own blog, when i get down to writing it) but this film, it doesn't let you over-think it. At first I thought, of course it would be a fun movie, that's it. After all it seemed to be about a regular dork having a hot cyborg as a girlfriend. But in the end, it turned out to be so much more. And that's what the movie is really... such an amazing surprise.  And i think it's the first time I cried this hard over a cyborg-themed film. Oh, and I still stand by what I've said on FB, Spielberg can learn a thing or two from this movie, especially when it comes to creating great endings. This movie again, no matter how unseemly it would seem, made me believe in the impossibility that is love.

Tada, Kimi wo Aishiteru (Just, Loving You )

So I was bored again last nite, as I'm usually is on weekends. My life is this numbing blur of routines and what else is there for me to do but watched movies? lol. not that I'm complaining cos I'm happiest when I'm home alone watching movies actually. In fact, second only to being on a beach. And so, I'm on my trusted web site for foreign movies and deciding which movie to watch, patiently clicking on each titles one by one and reading the synopsis and looking at the cast before moving on. And then I checked out some Japanese movies, it's been awhile since I watched one. I think the last one was some movie about a Yo-yo girl, it didn't really made much sense and I don't think I was able to finish it. I've been watching a lot of Korean stuff lately though so in the end, I decided to watch Tada, Kimi Wo Aishiteru, which literally means Just, Loving You. English title though is Heavenly Forest. An hour and a half later i'm clinging on my sheets and bawling my eyes out, grabbing some tissues from my bag lying nearby. And it wasn't just a soft, gentle crying. It didn't feel enough, my throat was hurting sooo much from holding back. I just had to make a sound. And so in the end I was just bawling out during maybe a good 20-30 mins of the movie. I thought I lost my mind for a while there. The movie was sooooo good. And it definitely is not something I will soon forget, if ever. I don't think I ever will.
