Hi! Thanks for visiting my site. Mostly, blogs would be about movies, tv series, celebrities, music, and a good dash of musings on life in general. Hope you enjoy them!
Quit my job last March 15 and signed a contract with another company. Training will start on March 28, in the meantime i have about two weeks free time, yay!! So what to do? i tagged along on my sister's company outing (2nd time I did this) and i brought my housemate with me this time (last chance to bond since I'm also moving out of our apartment).
these kids smiles are heartbreaking and enviable. they dive for coins but they look genuinely happy about it.
i didn't expect the 1 1/2 hour trek, it was a pleasant surprise :)
we chanced upon this horse, not wild, but it went chasing after one of us.
the heat was soooo harsh. it was almost midday.
this picture = happiness
the spread. oishi!!^.^
this shot cost me my mp3 player. had to lie down in the sand on my stomach to get this shot. totally forgot my mp3 player in my pocket, then a wave came crashing in. bummer.
found this fish lying in the sand. i tried returning it to sea, but it was already lifeless i guess, the waves keep crashing it back to shore.
as somebody said, the place was like Baguio with a creamy sand beach.
you can see this bunch of bonsai plants only during low tide. it gets submerged during high tides.
my sister posing w/ bonsai plants on a bedrock.
it was lovely lying on this hammock like nothing's wrong with the world.
A lot of definitions are floating on the internet but they're all a tad serious. I like these ones by the Urban Dictionary better.
1. A characteristic that is normally attributed to Asian people. Claire: "I'm so good at math." Lee Won: "What the fruit? Stop stealing my asianisms." 2. A way of life commonly attributed to those of Asian origin. Person A: "Sarah aced the economics test" Person B: "That's because she's an Asianist"
3. Much like a religion, e.g. Judaism, where there is worship of sushi, maths, and all things Asian
Person A: "Dude, my family spent the whole of last night making sushi"
Person B: "Maybe they've converted to Asianism?"
4. Asianistic - pertaining to Asianism; Asian
Person A: "What's for dinner?" Mum: "Rice and -" Person A: "YOU ASIANIST!"
For me, it's all about getting everything Asian known out there, and I'm doing what I can to help. :)
So i think I've been bitten by this Asianism Bug early 2009, when I fell in love with my favorite girl group (who deserves their very own blog entry) and there was no turning back since. It's not so much that I immersed myself in it as a way of life (though I am currently trying to learn Nihongo), more like exploring the entertainment side of it, music, tv shows, films, and it's been a hella entertaining almost-2-yrs ride since. It doesn't mean though that I stopped watching/listening to non-asia films or music. On the contrary, it kinda expanded my "library" rather than it being exclusive. In this Asianism entry, imma start with music.:)
And so I'd like to share some of Asian artists that I really like, who's really getting Asians get recognized out there, starting of course, with none other than, Far East Movement. I discovered them June of last year. I remember the moment as vividly as if it was just yesterday. I was browsing youtube for some kpop videos and lo and behold, i randomly clicked on an FM vid, and man, was I hooked. That first ever song was the now super famous Like A G6 and the first few weekends of listening to it, it felt like I was having my very own rave party every night, sans the booze and the strobe lights.. well, it did feel like there was strobe lights all around lol, dopest bass sound.. I guess i stumbled on that video cos Prohgress and J-Splif are Koreans and they do know some kpop vips. The best thing of all is, they're the very first artist I got to chat with, they're super friendly w/ fans and they hold this weekly hour long chat over at http://www.cherrytreerecords.com/ while listening to Virman work on some sick mixes. ahhh things can't get better for a fan. I totally am freewired! ^__^ Since everyone pretty much knows their songs from their ___ album, i'll just share some old favorites..
Again, thanks to kpop for leading the way to J.Reyez! It's amazing how i kept discovering great artists thru kpop. Like Sparklehorse, who I discovered while watching T.O.P's (of Bigbang) ambush interview in his condo. He happened to be a big fan and the background music the whole time were all Sparklehorse's songs. Who knew TOP listens to bands like them. I was impressed.:) So back to J. Reyez, the story this time was that I was searching for Taeyang's Wedding Dress mv and I stumbled into J. Reyez' english cover. I checked out all his other works and needless to say, I've been a subscriber to his YT account since.
... where it all began. still remember that day. *sigh* it was indeed a rape-the-replay-button day.^__^
ok, so the video above is from J.Reyez official youtube account. i should get all the videos from there however the videos always come out huge so am gonna get them from other uploaders. If you wanna check out his other works though, please visit his site.
another bittersweet moment. Discovered them when they're no longer together as a band. They're actually Japanese but writes and composes in English. sugoi, right? I guess i read somewhere that their vocalist have lived in the US for a time.
Asian Connection:(from what I know only, not sure about the ethnicity of the rest of the crew but I know 90% of them as Asian)
Phil " Swaggerboy" Tayag - half Filipino Rynan "Kid Rainen" Paguio - half Filipino Chris "Christyle" Gatdula - half Filipino Joe "Emajoenation" Larot - half Filipino Jeff "Phi" Nguyen - half - Vietnamese
Of course, Jabbawockeez has to be in here. Like every one else, I saw them during ABDC Season 1 and man, when they danced, the one where they got to choose/mix their own dance theme, it gave the tingle bunnies down my arms. It was soooo good. and of course, who can ever forget when they did Timbaland's Apologize??! I know i can't. I can't hear the song without remembering that performance. I could still remember that night. I was just staring open mouthed hhahaha! Also, I loved it how they begin each of their dances how they ended their last one. Truly, they were in a league of their own. <3 them!!
So here are some fave performances from that season, which is, pretty much everything lol! *.^
Synopsis: Korean director Park Chan-wook followed up his highly acclaimed Joint Security Area with this tale of a deaf mute named Ryu (Shin Ha-kyun) trying to help his sister (Lim Ji-Eun) get a kidney transplant. Because his blood type is incompatible and no donors are available, he turns to a group of black-market organ dealers who offer to find one in return for one of his and ten million won. The dealers rip him off, so Ryu conspires with his girlfriend, a political activist, to kidnap his former boss' young daughter and ransom her for the ten million won. But a horrible complication ruins their plans and things begin to spiral out of control as the girl's father (Song Kang-ho) decides to take matters into his own hands with the help of a sympathetic cop. ~ Tom Vick, Rovi credit:http://movies.msn.com/movies/movie-synopsis/sympathy-for-mr-vengeance/
