climbing Mt. Maculot - Lipa, Batangas

It's been maybe about 6 years since my last climb so I was a bit wary climbing Mt. Maculot. My friends assured me though it's "only a minor climb". so ok, yeah, let's do it! Up to the night before, we weren't sure whether to start the ascent before daybreak. A friend wanted to climb at midnite, lol. We were a group of four and I was the only first timer so they pretty much know the way. I bought disposable raincoat and a flashlite. I was hyped!! I wanted the idea of climbing under the moonlight -in the midst of trees. idk something both sinister and thrilling and exciting about it. But as usual, things don't go as planned, we crashed at a friend's pad around 10pm and left at 2am. We started the climb at around 5:30am. Haha so much for my flashlite. I didn't think it was a minor climb at all lol, it was very steep, good thing there were a lot of stops along the way. Still, the climb was very scenic and the view at the rockies was breath taking. We literally were standing at the edge of a cliff, my friends started posing here and there, I was getting nervous for them haha what a bunch of daredevils lol wth, might as well do it too xD look ma, no rope!! :))

on the way up..

happy campers
